PHS Prom Is Friday NightPublished Wednesday, April 4, 2001 in the Nevada County PicayuneThe Prescott High School junior-senior prom will be held Friday, April 6. The theme is Underwater Fantasy. Elaborate decorations and an abundance of food are being prepared by the junior class. They sold candy, cookie dough and frozen pizza to raise money for the event. The prom will once again be a lock-in' event, held in the lobby of the high school main building from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m. Because of safety concerns by many in the school and community students voted to have a lock-in prom. There concerns were about substance abuse and inappropriate behavior on prom night. Many accidents occur in our nation at this time of year. PHS encourages participation in supervised activities for their juniors and seniors this Friday night. Students are awarded door prizes to help make the evening more fun and rewarding. KLAZ's Scott Shady will be the deejay for the evening. Local businesses, churches, civic organizations and individuals have contributed door prizes of merchandise, cash and gift certificates to help with the event. If you have not been contacted and would like to participate, call the school office at 887-3123 and a junior class member will come by and pick up your donation. Students will continue the traditional grand march at the Nevada County Courthouse at 7:00 p.m., preceding the prom. The public is invited to view the march. If going to the courthouse, be sure to take your lawn chair. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
