Oak Grove NewsLULA Q. KENDRICKPublished Wednesday, April 4, 2001 in the Nevada County Picayune Last week wasn't a very good week for me. I have been to the doctor. My sugar is too high. I could not go to church Sunday and I hate to miss church. My nerves got upset after hearing abought Mrs. Mattie's death. She was our pastor's (Rev. W. E. Scott of Prescott) wife for many years. They both were fine people. She was a sweet lady. I have not heard when the funeral will be. Dwayne Erby visited me and Gloria Joe Saturday and brought our dinner. They never will forget the store was run by Kendricks. Drinks were ten cents and cookies were ten cents. Those were good times. Half of those children finished school and went to college. Some of them came back home to Oak Grove and taught school. People with loved ones buried at New Salem Cemetery who have not contributed to the upkeep in the past, can pay at the Bank of Prescott, or you can send it to Lula Kendric at Rt 1 Box 197, Rosston, and I will send you a receipt. Two of your own have returned home. Darel and Stacy Tidwell of Oak grove left home over five years ago. Returning home, they've brought with them Robert's Communications Inc., a new local and long distance telephone company. RCI provides services statewide and hopes to build a customer base in southwest Arkansas. Darel Tidwell is President and CEO. He stated, "Once people realize that by changing their local and long distance service to a locally owned company, they've put money back into their own community and jobs are created. That's our overall objective." Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
