After a week of cloudy, gloomy weather we were treated to a fine spring weekend. The azaleas and dogwood trees are beginning to bloom and the birds are chirping.

Trash clean-up has started on Highway 24 toward Camden. It's too bad the man-made litter cannot be cleaned up as well. If there is one thing that we in south Arkansas lead the nation in, it would probably be the amount of litter on our public roads. Just think what impression that leaves on folks who are traveling through our state. We all need to all do our part to help keep our roadways clean. A good spring cleaning around our homes wouldn't hurt anything, either.

Buster Green is scheduled for more surgery in the VA hospital in Little Rock this week.

Olen and Vernell Loe made a trip to south Texas last week to visit his sisters.

Britt and Kelley Carman spent the night with Bill and Linda Carman on Saturday night. I think Britt must been assigned the job of setting the clocks up at 2 a.m. I hear he stayed up almost that late playing dominoes.

Milton Barlow was also visiting Doris Barlow over the weekend.

If you haven't got your income tax figured out yet, you'd better get busy. The tax man is knocking at the door. Did you ever notice that the two words THE and IRS when put together spell THEIRS?

A thought this week from Kin Hubbard: "There's one advantage of being poor a doctor will cure you faster."
