Hughes Earns RecognitionPublished Wednesday, April 4, 2001 in the Nevada County PicayuneThe United States Achievement Academy (USAA) has announced that Cheryl Hughes of Prescott has been named a U.S. National Award winner in history and government. This award is a prestigious honor very few students can ever hope to attain. USAA recognizes fewer than 10% of all American high school students. Hughes, who attends McCrae Middle School, was nominated for this national award by Sallie Nix, a teacher at the school. Her name will appear in the USAA official yearbook, which is published nationally. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hughes of Prescott. Her grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Overton of Prescott and Mrs. and Mrs. Garret Hughes of Gurdon. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
