Illinois Man Picked Up In Gurdon AreaBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, April 4, 2001 in the Gurdon Times A Rockford, Illinois man found himself in serious trouble in the Gurdon area Monday, March 26. According to reports from Gurdon City Marshal Don Childres, a 9-1-1 call was made to the Clark County Sheriff's Office around 2 a.m. Monday, March 26. The call concerned a woman having been badly beaten on Randall Road near Gurdon. An ambulance was sent to the scene. When the deputies arrived, the suspect, Antoine Craine, had left in a 1997 grey Nissan. At 8 a.m. a Gurdon Police officer found the car between two houses on Jones Street. After a four-hour search, Childres and officer Garry Marshal went to an apartment on South Second Street, where they found Craine. Craine gave up without a fight. When they checked his arrest record, it was learned Craine was a fugitive from Rockford, where he was wanted for aggravated assault on a police officer, along with other charges.
