Gurdon House Destroyed By FirePHOTO BY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, April 4, 2001 in the Gurdon Times HOUSE BURNS A house on Joselyn Street burned Tuesday, March 27. According to Gurdon Fire Chief Jake McBride, the fire began in the kitchen where someone was apparently trying to cook. The call came in around 11:30 a.m., with two crews from the Gurdon Fire Department responding. However, only one crew worked the fire, with the other there as backup in case the flames got out of control. Firemen were on the scene until about 1:30 p.m. The house was owned by Delton Simpson and being rented by Mary Cook. The structure was completely destroyed.
