Pre-registration for Gurdon head start began Monday, April 2, and will continue through Friday, April 6, from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. If your child will be three years old by Sept. 15 bring in your 2000 income tax records, the child's birth record, social security card and shot record, if you want your child entered in the head start program.

Beech Street Baptist Church will hold its monthly fellowship meal Wednesday, April 4. Cost will be $3 for adults, $2 for children or $10 for the entire family.

Stephanie Morgan and Andy McClure are proud to announce the birth of their baby boy, Anthony Bronson McClure Jr., born Thursday, March 22, 2001, at 5:07 a.m. at St Joseph's Hospital in Hot Springs.

Anthony weighed 5 lbs. 5ozs. and was 19< inches long.

Grandparents are Dale and Cynthia Morgan of Beirne and A.B. and Nancey McClure of Gurdon. Great grandparents are Ruby Warren of Gurdon and Patsy Mull of Hobbs, N. M., and Mary and Bob Stringer of Sea Graves, Texas.

Carrie Street Church of God will celebrate the pastoral anniversary April 15 at 3:00 p.m. Rev. Ivory Curry is the pastor. Everyone is invited.

In conclusion to International Focus Week at Henderson State University, an international food bazaar will be held at the Garrison Center day gym Friday, April 6, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Tickets are $8 for adults and $3 for children under 10 if purchased before April 6. Arkansas Baptist Promise House in Little Rock (home for girls with unplanned pregnancies) is in need of the following items: soft soap, soap dispensers, toilet tissue, paper towels, napkins and postage stamps. The home is also seeking sponsors to meet individual needs of residents. Sponsors could aid in special occasion needs such as birthday parties, unexpected education expenses and other needs or by providing household furnishings.

The Red Springs Extension Homemakers Club meets every second Thursday of each month at the Gurdon Municipal building beginning at 10:00 a.m. Any interested person is welcome to attend.

The city of Gurdon reminds residents the storm sirens are tested every Wednesday at 12:00 noon. Sirens are not tested during inclement weather.

Gurdon Masonic Lodge 187 meets the first and third Tuesday of each month. All members are urged to attend.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets on Wednesdays and Sundays at 8:00 p.m. at the American Legion building, Highway 67 North, one mile out of Gurdon.
