HAZEL MEEKS
Published Wednesday, March 28, 2001 in the Nevada County Picayune

I can assure you of one thing, I am not taking my electric blanket off the bed yet.

We love and congratulate our two young ladies, Katy Cox and Katy Wilson, for making the ninth grade cheerleader squad. We also congratulate Megan Vandiver for making the high school squad.

Katy Wilson spent Thursday night with Kayla Key.

Katy Cox and Kelsey Ratcliff, along with Katy's mother Kim went shopping in Texarkana Friday.

Ten fathers, Paul Cox, Mike Taylor, John Burdue, Bobby Pilgreen, Ferrell Nelson, Jerry Hillery, Bob Cummings, Lance Beaver, Clark Crellin, Danny Pennington and Phillip Formby, from Shady Grove Baptist Church took 20 boys on a campout on Lake DeGray. They had a great time fishing, pitching horseshoes and playing baseball and volleyball, and maybe some things we can't tell.

Billie Ann Gass from Chickasha, Okla., spent nine days with her mother, Allene Taylor.

My Aunt Lou Ella Cobb and a friend, Odell, from Hope visited Neil and me on Sunday.

Katy Wilson visited her MeMe Jackie in Redfield from Friday till Sunday. Her mother Cherrie met them in Malvern and brought her back. She met the Shady Grove young folks group for a youth rally at Laneburg. Our youth brought home the banner for having most in attendance.

Mrs. Bob Ida' Haynie had visiting her over the weekend her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Tamarah, from Little Rock. They all enjoyed having dinner out. Ida's daughter and son-in-law and baby, Carole, Jim and Lukas McDonald are vacationing in Orlando, Fla., and having fun at Walt Disney World.

Erica Burdue, who attends Central Baptist College at Conway, has just returned from a 10-day trip with the college choir. They performed at many cities. She spent the weekend with her parents, John and Gina Burdue, and with her brother Ryan. She returned back to college Sunday.

Betty Wilson from Hot Springs visited her daughter and son-in-law and their son, Charity, Randy and Caleb Lowdermilk, Friday. She also visited Neil and me.
