Rose Garden Club

The Rose Garden Club met in the home of Elizabeth Haltom on March 20 at 1:30 p.m. with Bonnie Honeycutt as co-hostess.

Betty Turner, president, presided over the business session.

The president read a letter from First Lady Huckabee, expressing her appreciation to the members for the contribution of a one-piece setting of Lenox china, which will be used in the newly decorated Governor's mansion.

The president also stated that the garden clubs of Arkansas will be celebrating their 90th anniversary this year.

Six members attended the Arkansas Flower and Garden Show in Little Rock on March 3.

Betty Avery and Flo Brackman presented the program on simplicity in flower arranging. Their theme was Three Flowers and a Container.'

Flo Brackman spoke on the importance of voids of space in arranging, stating that voids are vital to the success of the design as the flowers are. She illustrated the Japanese style of arranging.

Betty Avery gave tips on conditioning flowers and gave other pertinent information on how to prolong the life of the flowers in the design. She brought out many useful ideas the members did not know. They brought arrangements emphasizing simplicity in design.

Evelyn Daniel brought a lovely spring arrangement.

The hostess served a delicious dessert.
