Hope Man Charged With Hot Checks

Perry Townsend of Hope has been charged with 10 counts of violating the Arkansas Hot Check Law.

According to court records, Townsend wrote 10 checks to Exit 44 Truck Stop in Prescott in a two-day period on Feb. 5-7. The bad checks totaled $891.57 before the bank and returned check fees were added.

Violation of the Hot Check Law is a class C felony carrying a sentence of three to 10 years in prison and a fine up to $10,000.
