County Receiving Clean-Up Calls From Prescott Residents

Nevada County Judge James Roy Brown has received several calls requesting cleanup of debris from the Christmas Day ice storm.

However, all these calls have come from residents inside the city limits of Prescott, said Tom Carnes, project manager of D&J Enterprises, the company the county contracted to do the cleanup work.

City residents needing debris picked up will have to contact Prescott Mayor Howard Taylor as D&J Enterprises is not allowed under its contract to do this.

D&J, Carnes said, is only working to clean up county roads and has nothing to do with what happens inside the city limits.

At this time, he said, there are 60 crews still working to remove the debris left by the ice storm.

Once the fallen debris has been picked up the crews will work to cut the broken limbs which pose a threat to motorists and power lines alike.

Still, he said, those county residents who need debris picked up should contact the county judge.

After the storm devastated the region Brown had 23 companies contact him about the cleanup work.

Bids were taken with only about a dozen of the 23 bothering to submit bids. Of those bidding on the project D&J was the company with the lowest bid, and also being able to show proof of liability and worker's compensation insurance.

For those county residents living on or near a state highway or a U.S. highway they need to contact the Arkansas State Transportation and Highway Department in Hope. This number is 870-777-3457.
