A 21-year-old Gurdon resident has entered into a plea agreement in connection with second degree forgery charges.

According to court records, Kevin Beasley had been charged with forgery in the second degree, a class C felony with a sentence of three to 10 years in prison and a fine up to $10,000 in connection with a check taken from a Kathy McClure.

The Clark County Sheriff's Office on Dec. 18 contacted McClure about a check for $350 written to Thomason's Big Star, the reports state.

McClure said she had not given anyone permission to write a check on the account. The check, according to the records, had the name David McClure on it.

Ginger Minton, an employee at the grocery store, was questioned about it. She told officers she remembered the event and said the check had been cashed by Beasley.

Minton knew Beasley as they had attended Gurdon High School together.

According to the reports, Minton gave Beasley $347 in cash, keeping $3 for a check cashing fee the business charges.

A bench warrant was issued for Beasley, who entered into a plea agreement March 5.

He was sentenced to 120 days in the county jail, given five years probation, fined $500 and costs and ordered to pay restitution.
