It's almost time for the annual Gurdon Chamber of Commerce banquet.

This year's banquet will be held Tuesday, April 3, in the Gurdon High School cafetorium with Dr. Johnnie Roebuck the featured speaker.

Tickets for the event are $12.50 and can be purchased at either First State Bank of Gurdon, Firstar, or the Arkadelphia Area Chamber of Commerce.

In addition, the Citizen of the Year and Teacher of the Year will be named.

These awards are presented each year to those people who make tremendous contributions to the community, according to information from the chamber.

Roebuck, professor of education at Henderson State University and dean of the HSU graduate school, is also the director of continuing education and has written two books.

These books are: Celebrate the Temporary, and How Are You Becoming?

Musical entertainment this year will be the George Baker Bluegrass Band.
