It was really fun for the senior adults to participate in the coloring contest on April 16. I won first prize, Eulah Wilson, second, and Birdie Quarles, third. The Head Start children were the judges.

Jerry Don Childers and the third graders entertained the seniors on April 21. Tommy Hays brought several instruments he had made to the center on April 22. He explained the special wood that had to be used and also the tools used to make the instruments. He brought several violins, a Dulcimer and mandolins. If the instruments are not constructed in a certain way, they will not have a good tone. We appreciate him for volunteering to do this for us.

We played bingo on Monday and the seniors enjoyed their birthday cake donated by Big Star on April 27. Lloyd Baumgardner sang also. Those with birthdays are Hazel Lee, James Franklin, Edgar McKin, Barbara Weems, Martha Bearden, Lula Mae Bailey, Gennie Cunningham, Nadine Logan, Naomi Brown, Junior Thrasher, Harvey McClelland and Virginia Hays.

Dr. Barbara Holt is at the center today, April 28, to give us some 'Saving Money Tips' and the senior adults will visit the Glenwood center on April 29.

The Quilting Ladies have finished the quilt they were working on and have another one to do. Our Cover Girls have had eye surgery and other medical problems, so we thank those who are so faithful.

The center is a wonderful part of the Gurdon community. People don't realize how valuable it is in a person's life to have somewhere to go and be around other people. There are many services available through the center for senior adults.

The center is a program of Central Arkansas Development Council and is a United Way Agency.
