Rosston NewsMARGUERITE WILLIAMSPublished Wednesday, March 21, 2001 in the Nevada County Picayune Rosston sends sympathy to the families of Mark Smith and Jean Coburn. Mark Smith's youngest daughter was killed Saturday night due to an automobile accident. Jean Coburn's grandson was killed this past week in Pine Bluff. Jean is a sister of Dail Evans of Willisville. We do not understand all the tragedies of today, but God does. Please pray for both of these families. Our great grandson, Tyler McKinnon of Texarkana, was our guest last week until Friday while on spring break. We left Monday and spent a few days in Hot Springs with him. We did all the things kids like to do such as the alligator farm, the petting zoo, putt-putt golf and going up Hot Springs tower. We took him to Prescott on Friday afternoon to his grandmother and granddad McKinnon to play with his little cousins for a few days. Afterward Roscoe and I took Maxine Freeman out for supper. Visitors in church Sunday were Sam Cogbill and Louise and Bernice Dillard's little grandson. We welcome them back anytime. There was possibly other visitors I didn't see. Revival begins at Rosston will be March 26-30 at 7:00 each night. Bro. Eddie Douglas will be our evangelist. He is from Louisiana near Alexandria. Tuesday night is family night, Wednesday is pack a pew night, Thursday is youth night and Friday is potluck at 6 p.m. Please come and participate and if you can't come remember to pray for us. The Gospel Truth which includes our own Jeff Carlton will render several specials on Sunday morning. Our special singers for each night will be in the news next week. I'm not sure about this, but I think Jeff and Tara Carlton will be singing on Monday night, Rodney Langston and his brother on Tuesday night, Nancy Burke on Thursday night and our pastor's wife, Stacey Faulkner, on Friday night. I will give more accurate details next week as I'm not too sure about all the singers. A.B. Luck reported that their niece, Nita Jean Durham, who is one of our camping friends from Atlanta, Texas, is having tests run and it might be serious. Please pray for her. Roscoe and I had lunch with Bro. Mark and Stacey after church Sunday and then we drove to Hope and attended the 1840 Rendevous in McCaskill with my brother and his wife. Our business is not to remake ourselves, but to make the absolute best of what God made. Sue Dixon and I attended the Strawberry Junction Craft show in the mall in Texarkana on Saturday. The youth of our church were entertained with a skating party in Texarkana on Saturday. Bro. Mark and Stacey had a hamburger and hot dog supper for them at their home that night. They had 22 in attendance. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
