Two Scholarships Offered By Prescott BoostersPublished Wednesday, March 21, 2001 in the Nevada County PicayuneThe Prescott Athletic Booster Club (PABC) is offering two one-time $500 scholarships this year. One will be awarded to a graduating senior female athlete, the other to a graduating senior male athlete. Scholarship applications may be picked up in the high school counselor's office. Deadline for returning the application to counselor Paula Cossey's office is April 2. To be eligible a student must: be a graduating senior of Prescott High School, have actively participated in sports/cheerleading at Prescott High School and have a grade point average of 2.5 or above. The following data must be submitted: neatly completed scholarship application form signed by coach Kirk Armitage; two letters of recommendation one from a teacher/coach and one from a non-relative member of the community; and a typed, double-spaced 250- to 300-word essay on a separate sheet of paper entitled, "What Curley Wolf Pride Means To Me." The application includes name, address, phone number, college of choice, GPA, ACT score, school organizations/activities, community services and a list of all sports-cheerleading activities since seventh grade. Submitted data will be judged by out-of-town judges. All decisions are final. Winners will be announced May 1 at the Athletic Awards Banquet. Scholarship monies will be sent directly to the college of choice indicated on the application form after student has registered and before tuition is due.
