County's Clean-Up 80% DoneBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, March 21, 2001 in the Nevada County Picayune Cleanup from the winter's ice storm is about 80 percent complete, according to Tom Carnes, project manager of D&J Enterprises, Inc. D&J Enterprises is the group clearing away the debris left from the storm. This business was selected from a dozen that applied shortly after the storm hit. Actually, 23 companies contacted Nevada County Judge James Roy Brown about doing the cleanup, but only a dozen filled out the paperwork. Of these, D&J submitted the lowest bid and showed proof of liability insurance and worker's compensation. Carnes said his crews are almost done and will make one more sweep across the county for debris. He suggested those people who haven't cleared off their property yet should do so and bring their debris to the road. First, though, Carnes said these residents should call the county judge about it. Carnes has three crews remaining in the county. These crews will soon begin the trim work on those trees with broken limbs near power lines. D&J crews will be in the area doing the trim work until at least March 30, Carnes said, but could be here a little longer if necessary. He also asked anyone seeing any debris on the side of county roads to call the Nevada County courthouse and let Judge Brown know so it can be picked up.
