Miss Gurdon Lakes Pageant Nearing

Clark County Youth Development Center (CCYDC), will sponsor the ninth annual Miss Gurdon Lake Pageant May 5 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gurdon High School cafeteria.

The pageant is open to girls ages newborn to 21, who meet the requirements that are set forth by the pageant committee of CCYDC.

The ages for pageant divisions are as follows: Infant, newborn to four; Tiny Miss, five to nine; Pre-Teen, 10-12; Junior Miss, 13-15; and Miss Gurdon Lake, 16-21.

Winner in the Infant and Tiny Miss Divisions will be based on ads and patron sales. Pre-teen Division participants will compete on introduction, talent, sportswear and dress wear. The Junior Miss and Miss Gurdon Lake participants will compete on introduction, talent, swim wear, evening gown and projection.

All participants are required to pay an entrant's fee of $5 and submit a recent photo, preferably black and white. However, color photos will be accepted.

The CCYDC pageant is the group's annual fund-raiser. The funds will assist in sponsoring programs, overhead cost, purchasing equipment for the center and supporting other worthwhile activities and projects in the community. The pageant also provides an opportunity for the youth to perform on stage, develop poise and self-esteem, and to be winners in the pageant of life, self respect and how to respect others, as well as provide community service.

Winners of the contest will receive the following:

Infant Miss Gurdon Lake will receive a trophy, banner, crown, flowers and a $50 cash prize. First and second runners-up will receive trophy and banner.

Tiny Miss Gurdon Lake will receive a trophy, banner, crown, flowers and a $50 cash prize. First and second runners-up will receive trophy and banner.

Pre-Teen Miss Gurdon Lake will receive a trophy, banner, crown, flowers and a $50 cash prize. First and second runners-up will receive trophy and banner.

Junior Miss Gurdon Lake will receive a trophy, banner, crown, flowers and a $75 cash prize. First and second runners-up will receive trophy, banner and flowers.

Miss Gurdon Lake will receive a trophy, banner, crown, flowers, and $200 cash prize. First and second runners-up will receive trophy, banner and flowers.

Each participant will receive flowers and a participation certificate.

The participant selling the most souvenir book ads above $200 will receive a $100 cash prize. All divisions participants are required to sell ads and have a patron's list for entry in the pageant's program souvenir book.
