Bennie FreemanRUGGLES - WILCOX FUNERAL HOME of ARKADELPHIAPublished Wednesday, March 21, 2001 in the Gurdon Times Bennie Freeman entered into rest on Sunday, March 18, 2001, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Hot Springs. Mr. Freeman was born September 23, 1929, in the Shiloh community near Arkadelphia, the son of the late Ben and Bessie Freeman. He loved to bring happiness to other people's lives through laughter and could always be found meeting and talking to people. Bennie never met a stranger. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean war and was a member of the Elwood Fire Department in Indiana for several years. Bennie was a staple of the Gurdon community and will be missed by all. Survivors include his wife, Wilma Davis Freeman of Gurdon; one son, Jeff Freeman of Gurdon; two daughters, Linda Freeman-Taylor of Fontana, Calif., and Cindy Davis of Gurdon; two brothers, Lee Freeman of Warren and Robert Austin Freeman of Gurdon; two sisters, Pauline Castor of Tipton, Ind., and Joyce Hurst of Kokamo, Ind.; two grandchildren, Alana Taylor of Anderson, Calif., and Noel Freeman of College Station, Texas; and six great grandchildren, Brylie, Breanna, Eliot, Marena, Miana and Amanda. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 21, at 2:00 p.m. at the Ruggles-Wilcox Chapel with Rev. Paul Sills officiating. Interment will be in Shiloh Cemetery under the direction of Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home of Arkadelphia. Visitation was Tuesday, March 20, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
