A 14-year-old Gurdon student was arrested after reportedly making allegations of violence.

According to Clark County Sheriff Troy Tucker, the student was overheard making allegations of violence toward others. The incident occurred Thursday, Feb. 22, around 9:45 a.m.

Tucker said the student reportedly made threats toward others of what he planned to do to them.

Once school officials got wind of this, they called the Clark County Sheriff's Office.

The student was picked up by deputies and turned over to juvenile authorities.

The student was then interviewed by two different counselors, one from the Community Counseling Center in Arkadelphia and the other from a juvenile treatment facility.

Tucker said it was determined the student could be returned to his parents until he could be placed in a treatment center. The student was so placed later in the day Thursday.

Once the student is released from treatment, he will face charges in juvenile court as well as disciplinary measures from the school.

"Any time a student makes threats like this they will be taken seriously," Tucker said.

However, he added, no actual bomb threat was made, nor was any explosive device ever

found.
