Jerry Gordon Glass, 61, of Prescott died Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at Medical Park Hospital in Hope following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Mr. Glass was born December 2, 1939, in Cale to Loyd and Nell White Glass. He was a member of Park Baptist Church in Prescott, where he served as treasurer for 17 years. Mr. Glass was Sunday School superintendent for two years and was a member of the choir. He was also active in the community, serving as a member of the chain gang' for the Curley Wolves for many years and coaching numerous summer baseball teams. He was also a member of the Arkansas National Guard, in which he served with Company C active duty in 1957 at Little Rock Central High School. He retired in 1998 from International Paper Company after 20 years of service as a forest technician. He was president of Glass and Sons Farm and also part owner of Sandy Creek Fox Pen. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Mr. Glass was preceded in death by his parents, one brother J.L. Glass, and one sister, Rene Glass Vandiver.

Cherishing his memory are his wife of 40 years, Patsy Glass; four sons, Wayne Glass and his wife JoBeth, Bobby Glass and his wife Laura; Mark Glass; and Brian Glass and his wife Melanie, all of Prescott; his brother, James Glass of Texarkana; and four grandchildren, Jeremy Glass, Jesse Glass, Shelly Glass and Dusty Glass.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 9, at Park Baptist Church with Bros. Jim Crain, Raymond Hicks and Britt Dupree officiating. Burial was in Morris Cemetery under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott.

Pallbearers were Don Callicott, Bill Rhodes, Bobby Hicks, Jake Godwin, Jimmy Neal Glass, Jesse Runyun, Chester Avery and George Stockton. Honorary pallbearers were Kenny Harcrowe, Ronald Lee Glass, Bearl Glass, Richard Fuller, Bud Gourly, Keith Watson, Jimmy Fincher, Frank Bradley, Donnie Dillard and George Darrell Glass.
