Extension Homemakers ClubsPublished Wednesday, March 14, 2001 in the Nevada County PicayuneThere are lots of choices awaiting you when you decide to volunteer. Volunteers are needed by just about every organization, so it is up to you to select the best way for you to get involved. You can offer your services: to help a particular cause; to help a particular client group; to help a specific organization; or to share a skill you have. The Cooperative Extension Service works with a diverse group of adults and has some creative outlets for volunteering. If you are interested in learning at the same time the Extension Homemakers organization provides that opportunity. It is one of the largest non-profit volunteer organizations. Volunteers have the opportunity to meet with an organized group in their community. Groups meet monthly for educational programs. There are over 650 clubs in Arkansas and they are all participants in community service. These clubs contribute thousands of volunteer hours each year to community service projects in their own communities and across the state. There are five Extension homemaker clubs meeting in communities throughout Nevada County. Redland EH Club meets the first Tuesday of each month at 1:30 p.m. at Shady Grove Church or Liberty Church. Joy Cox is the president of the Redland Club. Bluff City Helping Hands EH Club meets at the Church of Christ in Bluff City at 7:00 p.m. on the second Thursday of every month. Marguerite Tomlin is the president of Helping Hands. Fair Hills EH Club meets at 6:45 p.m. on the third Monday of the month with Glenda Stuart as its president. The Fair Hills EH Club meets at homes in the Fairview, Nubbin Hill and Pleasant Hill communities and at the Extension office in Prescott. Double C' EH Club meets at 6:30 p.m. at Cale City Hall on the third Thursday of each month. Ann Loe is the president of Double C'. Prescott EH Club meets at the Extension office at 1:30 p.m. on the third Wednesday of every month. Willie Mae Muldrew is the president of Prescott EH Club.
