A 19-year-old Prescott youth has been charged with residential burglary and theft of property in connection with the break-in of the Keith Miller residence.

According to court records, the incident occurred around Oct. 6, 2000, when the Nevada County Sheriff's Office got a call from Miller saying someone had broken into his house.

Deputy Hebb Sorrells responded to the call. When he arrived at the scene, Miller said he had gotten home around 6:15 p.m. and noticed the door to his gun cabinet open with five long guns missing.

Miller then went into the bedroom and saw several drawers open and ransacked. There he found two watches and a ring to be missing.

He also saw the north bedroom window standing open.

The place was dusted for fingerprints, with those lifted sent to the Arkansas Crime Lab for comparison.

Further investigation revealed Sonny Clyngman telling officers he and his wife had been in the area around 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 6, and saw a teal green car pulled between the gate and woodline.

The driver, according to Clyngman's statement, said he was cleaning out his car and didn't need any help.

On Oct. 19, 2000, the NCSO got a call from the Garland County Sherif's Office saying they had Damian Tyler, 19, of Prescott, in custody, having recovered a class ring from the Miller residence.

Tyler claimed to have bought the ring from "a black guy," but his fingerprints reportedly matched those lifted at the crime scene.
