Nominations are being sought for the Gurdon teacher and citizen of the year.

The annual Gurdon Chamber of Commerce Banquet is scheduled for Tuesday, April 3, in the Gurdon High School cafetorium, with Johnnie Roebuck the featured speaker.

Roebuck, wife of state representative Tommy Roebuck, and employee at Henderson State University, has written a book about life experiences.

Those wishing to nominate someone for Teacher of the Year need to write a letter of recommendation, detailing why their selection should be so honored. Students are encouraged to participate as well.

A letter should also be written telling why a nominee should be named Citizen of the Year.

Both winners will be named at the banquet.

However, the nominations should be mailed to the Chamber, P.O. Box 187, Gurdon, Ark. 71743.

Deadline for making a nomination is March 26.

For more information contact the Chamber at 353-2661.

Tickets for this year's Chamber Banquet will be $12.50 each and can be purchased at either of Gurdon's banks, the Chamber office, or by calling Anita Cabe at 353-2063.
