Two Award Winners Named

Published Wednesday, March 14, 2001 in the Gurdon Times

The United States Achievement Academy announced recently that Kolby Harper and Britta Halliday of Gurdon have been named U.S. National Award winners in history and government.

These awards are a prestigious honor very few students can ever hope to attain. The academy recognizes fewer than 10 percent of all American high school students.

Harper and Halliday, both Cabe Middle School students, were nominated for this national award by Mrs. Ann Clingan, a teacher at the school.

Their names will appear in the U.S. Achievement Academy official yearbook, which is published nationally.

Harper is the daughter of Jeanna Harper, and the granddaughter of Barbara Harper, both of Gurdon.

Halliday is the daughter of Dickey and Elaine Halliday of Gurdon. Her grandparents are Dickey and Mary Halliday of Gurdon and Mildred White of Prescott.
