Beef Forage Clinic Set In Glenwood

The Clark County Extension Service, in cooperation with Cattlemen's Livestock Auction, will conduct a beef-forage clinic Tuesday, March 6, at 5:30 p.m. at Cattlemen's Livestock Auction in Glenwood. A meal will be supplied by Farm Credit of Western Arkansas at 6:30 p.m.

The topics to be covered include: endophyte friendly fescue, Red River crabgrass, Bermuda grass overview, legumes, control grazing management, and ranching in today's environment.

We would like for you to pre-register so we have a fairly correct meal count.

The Cooperative Extension Service will be conducting a marketing workshop on March 13 and 15.

The meeting will be held at the Farm Bureau office in Arkadelphia beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Ted Huneycutt Jr. of Agriculture Marketing Management will be teaching the workshop. We will be looking at futures, buying and selling of contracts, and options. The first night will be futures and options. The second night we will look at hedging strategies.

There is no cost for this workshop.

The Clark County Extension Service and Hunter-Wasson, Inc. will be conducting a workshop discussing options for forest landowners, in response to the ice damage to thousands of acres.

The meeting will be held Monday, March 12, at 7:00 p.m. at the Clark County Fairgrounds in the Youth Building.

Dr. Frank Roth, forester for the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service, will be the speaker for this meeting. He will discuss tree recovery and also tax information.
