Students who will be entering kindergarten in the fall need to register at the Gurdon Primary School on Wednesday, March 28, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. or Thursday, March 29, between 12:00 noon and 6:00 p.m. Students will be given a screening evaluation at this time. Students registering for kindergarten must be five years old on or before September 15. Russell and Angela Ledbetter of Arkadelphia proudly announce the birth of their daughter, Rachel Mary. Weighing 6 pounds and 10= ounces, she was born at Saline Memorial Hospital in Benton. Her big brother Jacob welcomed her home. Grandparents are Tommy and Gail Johnson of Little Rock and Raymond Ray of Gurdon. Arkansas Rehabilitation Services will offer sessions with counselor Kenyotta Eugene on March 15 and 29 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Gurdon Municipal Building. The 26th annual Festival of Two Rivers will be held Friday and Saturday, April 13 and 14, in Arkadelphia. Festival hours are 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on April 13 and 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on April 14. Kids' run will begin at 8:00 a.m. on April 14 at the courthouse. Church is holding its spring musical March 17 at 7:00 p.m and wish to invite all churches to attend. The musical is sponsored by Sis. Bertha Vinson. Red River Baptist Association will offer a literacy training workshop on March 31. The workshop includes English as a second language,' tutoring youth and children,' and adult reading and writing.' The Red Springs Extension Homemakers Club meets every second Thursday of each month at the Gurdon Municipal building beginning at 10:00 a.m. Any interested person is welcome to attend. The city of Gurdon reminds residents the storm sirens are tested every Wednesday at 12:00 noon. Sirens are not tested during inclement weather.
