Mozelle Watkins GillSHACKELFORD FUNERAL HOME of PRESCOTTPublished Wednesday, March 7, 2001 in the Nevada County Picayune On October 8, 1912, a star, Mozelle Watkins Gill, was born at Washita, to Robert and Myra Watkins. Her mother and father passed away early in her life and she and her brothers, Richard and Grover, with nothing but true grit and determination, took on the awesome task of raising the younger siblings until they were ready to spread their wings and fly away. On February 27, 2001, God chose to take our beloved mother to be with him in paradise, a reward for a job well done. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rance Gill, in 1982. She was a homemaker and a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church. Cherishing her memory are her son, Norman Gil of Camden; three daughters, Carolyn Cullins of Alexander, Jackie Lucas of Redfield and Cherri Wilson of Prescott; her brother, Norman Watkins of Arizona; her sister, Mildred Mingus of Friona, Texas; five grandchildren, James Chamlee, Michael Chamlee, Johnny Lucas, Steven Lucas and Andy Lucas; three great grandchildren, Steve Lucas Jr., Katy Wilson and Seth Lucas; a very special grandson-in-law, Danny Wilson; and special nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Thursday, March 1, at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Bros. Micah Mauldin and Mike Taylor officiating. Burial was in Liberty Cemetery under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
