College News - Kara ThomasPublished Wednesday, March 7, 2001 in the Gurdon TimesKara Thomas of Gurdon progressed to the semi-final round in junior and senior women's categories at the National Association of Teachers of Singing competition. Six of Henderson State University's voice majors attended the NATS competition at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway on Feb. 24. According to Dr. Bill Higgins, professor of voice at Henderson, the NATS sponsors the largest regional and statewide singing competition every year. "This is a great achievement for these singers and for the Henderson State tradition," said Higgins. Thomas is the daughter of John and Martha Thomas of Gurdon.
