Gurdon Reading Teachers Using Different MethodsPublished Wednesday, March 7, 2001 in the Gurdon TimesCabe Middle School reading teachers Carolyn McClure, Florida Briscoe and Jean Smithey have been using several different methods as motivational techniques with the reading students. For every accelerated reading quiz a student is able to pass with 85 percent or higher, his or her name is placed in two drawings this year. The first drawing was held in December. Local businesses helped make this motivational incentive possible. Gifts or money were donated by First State Bank, Horne Funeral Home, McKinnon Monument Company and Cabe Land Company.
