Springtime should be just around the corner. I've already seen some of

those yellow jonquils blooming. This has been a costly winter in more ways than one when you consider the storm damages, the high gas bills, and the extra cost of generators, heaters, etc. that we had not planned to buy.

We were spared damage from the storms last Saturday, for which we are thankful. This is the time of year when tornadoes are most likely to occur, so we need to be alert to changing weather conditions.

There were three burials in this community on Thursday of last weekOlyn W. Harrell at Bluff City Cemetery, Norma Ingram at Ebenezer, and Harvis Ingram Jr. at Union Grove.

Jodie Nelson from Nashville, Tenn., was visiting his parents, Claudis and Oleta Nelson last weekend.

Jack Walker, brother of Nell Wanda McKelvy, was not doing well at last report in his battle against cancer. He lives in Texas.

The pile of limbs continues to grow at the old woodyard site north of town.

Here's some useless trivia that I assume is true

A duck's quack doesn't echo, and no one knows why.

There is no houseflies in Alaska.

Your brain constitutes about two percent of your body weight.

Eighty-two percent of the world's drivers drive on the right side.
