Lorena McAteer, 87, of Camden died suddenly Sunday, February 25, 2001, at Ouachita County Medical Center.

She was born October 8, 1913, in the Caney community to John Glass and Ella Goodman Glass. She was the wife of Eld. Novel McAteer for 70 years and a preacher's wife for more than 40 years. She was a member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church and Easter Star. She was preceded in death by a son, Denvia John Harvey McAteer.

She is survived by her husband, Eld. Novel McAteer of Camden; a grandson, Devina John Harvey McAteer Jr., and his wife Brenda; a granddaughter, Marvanna McAteer Merritt and her husband Charles; three great grandchildren, Charles Richard (Chuck) Merritt Jr. and wife Brandy, and Staci Merritt and Holi Merritt; and a daughter-in-law, Margaret Wicker McAteer Neeley and her husband Jim.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 27, at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church with burial in Morris Cemetery. Eld Richard Merritt and Eld. Jerry Carter officiated. Proctor Funeral Home of Camden was in charge of the arrangements.
