Classy Moments from Cabe Middle School

Published Wednesday, February 28, 2001 in the Gurdon Times

Thank goodness! it seems as though the number of absentees has finally shown a decrease. Hopefully, the bug is gone and won't find the way back to Cabe Middle School.

The CMS Student Council stays busy working on the third annual yearbook. Work is coming right along, but still there are several things to get completed. The students work really hard and take such pride in their work on their project.

The seventh graders finished their project on counties in the state. They have filed the information they received from the counties in the Arkansas filing cabinets in the media center.

We have new shelves in the media center. Now, maybe all the books will have a place to be displayed. A big thanks to Terry Purifoy and Bryan Watson for all the work to install the shelves. We have such a nice media center, one of which we are very proud to call ours.

The school-wide spelling bee was conducted by Mrs. Downey. The top five from CMS are Kolby Harper, Allison Anderson, Carolanne Duke, Syndey Foshee and Syndey Jester. These five students will be competing on the Clark County level, the next level up, soon. We are proud of you and you have our support to come home with the county championship.

Monday, Feb. 26, was the deadline to sign up for cheerleader. As of this writing 30 have signed up. Tryouts will be March 16. Now, for the next question: Will Mrs. Bullard remain cheerleader sponsor? We are waiting for her final answer.

Oral book reports were given and as difficult as it for some to believe, they survived. Mrs. Ferguson has been busy grading the written form of the reports.

Our junior high choir will present a concert at Bryant High School Tuesday. We know that Bryant will be in for a real treat, as we think we have the best choir in the state.

Today, Feb. 28, we will have spring pictures taken. That activity will begin at 8:30 a.m. Get those smiles ready.

Friday we enjoyed turkey and dressing and delicious rolls. You just can't beat it. You just cannot find any better cooks than those we have.

No, Orlando, you are not among the Who's Who.

Just to remind you that the welcome mat is always out for you at CMS as we make those Classy Moments.
