Trying to do what he thought was the right thing, but for the wrong reasons, resulted in a 25-year-old Prescott man getting arrested.

Aloysius "Al" Harris, on Feb. 4, was charged with two counts of terroristic threatening, one count of criminal mischief in the first degree and one count of second degree assault.

According to court records, Rosie and Al Harris went to the Prescott Police Department to report Michael and Marty Hurd for taking their (the Hurds') child and handling it in a rough manner.

The report states Harris got mad when he saw how Mike Hurd was handling the child and tried to stop him from leaving.

Harris reportedly threw a rock at the van the Hurds were in, shattering a window by Marty and the child. Neither was apparently hurt by the broken glass.

According to the reports, Harris was still angry when he went to the PPD to file a complaint against the Hurds. He was told to stay away from the Hurd residence.

This, though, he apparently didn't do.

Prescott Police Chief Sam Reeder went to the Hurd home and learned Harris had been there trying to cause trouble.

Witnesses stated they had seen Harris drive by the Hurd home, turn around and come back with the door of his vehicle open, shouting.

Harris later allegedly followed Marty Hurd and Lisa Smillie to Smillie's home, got out of his car and chased them into the house saying he was going to kill them.

When questioned, Harris, according to records, admitted throwing the rock at the van and going into the area of the Hurd home, but denied doing anything else.

If found guilty of terroristic threatening, a class D felony, Harris could be sent to the state pen up to six years on each charge, along with a fine up to $10,000. Criminal mischief is a class A misdemeanor with a sentence of up to a year in jail and fine up to $1,000. Second degree assault is a class C misdemeanor with a sentence of 90 days and fine of $500 plus court costs.
