Over $45,000 Written Off In 2000 By PW&L

The city of Prescott wrote off more than 150 accounts during the year 2000 in the Water and Light Department totaling more than $45,000, according to information released by city hall.

According to officials, the write-offs are done periodically through the year and then removed from the computer system.

Last year the first write-off occurred at the end of April with 40 accounts being removed for the amount of $11,370.64.

The second write-off of 2000 occurred in August with 56 having their accounts removed for a total amount of $12,168.88

The third write-off occurred at the year's end when officials removed 57 names with $21,739.60 being owed to the city.

Some of the debts removed by the city became uncollectible after the residents moved from town. Others on the list were removed and still have utilities provided.

This list of the write-offs for the three periods in the year 2000 follows, but in no particular order.
