Classy Moments from Cabe Middle SchoolPublished Wednesday, February 21, 2001 in the Gurdon TimesRain! We feel as though we have had enough rain to last us for a while. Students try to stay on the sidewalks, but a few sorta' step off into the mud. As far as the weather goes, it just can't please all of us. The assembly Feb. 14 was a big success. Josh Lockwood, Colton McClure, Porcha Anderson and Christian Hopson presented the citizen students awards to Heather Bland, Christian Hopson, Jaquaya Dixon and Chad McClure. King and Queen candidates were introduced by Carolanne Duke, Allison Anderson, Jessie Livingston and Lezlee White. Hannah Prince and Daniel Francis represented the sixth grade, Tori Morehead and Beau McKenzie were the fifth graders, Destiny Talley and Aaron Charles made the seventh graders proud. Jordan Purifoy and Taylor Morehead, the eighth grade candidates, were crowned the CMS King and Queen. Jordan was crowned by her dad, Terry Purifoy, and Taylor was crowned by his mom, Michaelyn Morehead. Josh shared interesting information about Jackie Robinson and Hank Aaron, while Colton informed the audience of the achievements of Jesse Owens. Rosa Parks, alias Kolby Harper, told about her courageous action taken on the bus in Alabama. Marco Giles made us feel as though Martin Luther King Jr. was really among us with the delivery of the famous speech, I Have A Dream. Friday Cabe Middle School was entertained as a percussionist performed using about 100 instruments. Several students found they were percussionists and really did not know it before. They performed like professionals. Valentines, Charm Pops, flowers, and balloons were delivered to most of the students Wednesday. That is one day of the year that students look forward to. Continue your support as we depend on you while we make those Classy Moments at CMS. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
