Curley Wolves Win At Mena In 7AAA Action

Prescott's Curley Wolves ended the regular season with a win at Mena, while the Wolverettes dropped their last two games.

This was a close game from the outset as both teams ended period one with 12 points.

Prescott managed to pull ahead in the second quarter to take a 27-25 lead to the locker room at the break.

In the third frame, the Wolves pushed their lead to six, going up 42-36 as the Bearcats refused to go away.

Justin Tidwell led the Wolves with 16 on the night, with Brandon Young contributing 15. Kevin Fulks scored 11.

Roberts led all scorers with 20 for the Cats, while Stanley chipped in 13.

Prescott was nine of 15 from the line, while Mena hit 12 of 23 free throws.

This was the first time the Wolves have managed to win at Mena.

The week didn't start off well as the Wolves dropped a 79-66 loss to the Leopards of De Queen Tuesday, Feb. 6.

Winning has always been difficult for Prescott at De Queen.

The Leopards jumped out to a 24-15 lead at the end of one, and were up 39-29 at halftime.

Prescott cut the margin to eight, at 60-52, when the third quarter came to an end.

Keon Sockwell had his best game of the year scoring 19 for Prescott. Fulks added 15, with Tidwell chipping in 10.

Matt Hall paced De Queen with 18 points. Jonathan Neeley and James Hammond scored 13 each.

Prescott hit 16 of 25 free throws, while the Leopards netted 20 of 35 from the line.

WOLVERETTES 38

LADY BEARCATS 48

Mena's Lady Bearcats posted a 48-38 win over Prescott, putting the Wolverettes in a precarious situation for the district playoffs this week.

Mena opened the game with a 15-9 lead at the end of one and was up 14 at the half with the score 29-15.

The Wolverettes battled back in the third, cutting the lead to 11 at 37-26.

Sophia Dunn led the Wolverettes with 24. Lizabeth Wilson stepped up and tossed in 10 for Prescott in the game.

Hall led Mena with 12. Brantley scored11 and House added 10.

Prescott hit two of nine free throws, while Mena connected on five of six.

PRESCOTT 28

DE QUEEN 51

The Wolverettes never got in this game as the Lady Leopards handed them a 51-28 loss Tuesday, Feb. 6.

De Queen opened the game with a 15-6 lead, stretching it to a 33-10 margin by halftime. The Lady Leopards led 43-17 at the end of three.

Lateisha Heard led Prescott with 15 points.

The Wolverettes hit eight of 14 free throws, while De Queen was eight of 12.

CUBETTES 36

FOUNTAIN LAKE 28

Prescott's junior girls opened the junior district tourney at Fouke with a 36-28 win against the Lady Cobras of Fountain Lake.

Prescott led 7-6 at the end of one and 12-9 at the break. B the end of three, though, the score was tied 20-20, with the Cubettes owning the final six minutes.

Katie McCauley and Tammy Harris led the way with eight points each.

The Cubettes were 14 of 31 from the line, while Fountain Lake hit three of seven.

However, the Cubettes lost to De Queen in the semifinal game.

Prescott's junior boys also made it to the semifinals, first hammering Bismarck 67-27, but having an off night against the Leopards and falling 32-19.
