A representative of the Texarkana Social Security office will be in Prescott at the courthouse Thursday, February 22, and March 22.

Supplemental Security Income pays monthly checks to people who are aged, disabled or blind and who do not own much or have much income. SSI is not just for adults. Monthly checks can be paid to disabled and blind children. To find out if you are eligible call 1-800-772-1213.

To any woman who would like to get together with another woman to pray may get in touch with the local area contact person of Moms in Touch, Beth Ward, at 870-887-6376.

For the past three years the local schools have been covered in prayer by a group of moms who meet on Tuesdays at 1:45 at First Baptist Church to pray for one hour.

Southwest Arkansas Development Council is now taking applications for the winter home energy assistance program. Applications will be taken Tuesday through Thursday from 9:00 until 11:30 a.m. at 304 East Vine St. Call 887-5171 for an appointment.

Non-food stamp households should take proof of household income and a recent stub from your heating bill when you go to make an application.

The eighth annual Sawmill Days Festival will take place Saturday, April 14, in downtown Sparkman. Crafters, vendors and entertainers are needed to make this year's event a success.

The Miss Sawmill Days Pageant will be held Saturday, March 24, and will take place in the Sparkman School cafeteria at 6 p.m.

Nevada School District will have its regular board meeting in the school library Thursday, February 15, at 7 p.m.

The agenda includes audience with individuals or groups, resolutions, reports and old business, new business and personnel.

The February Chamber of Commerce coffee will be hosted by the Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce and the Prescott-Nevada County Economic Development office. It will be held Tuesday, February 20, from 9:30 to 11:00 at the chamber office.

Everyone is invited to go by to look at the plans for many different projects in the area, and to have a snack and coffee.
