Classy Moments from Cabe Middle SchoolPublished Wednesday, February 14, 2001 in the Gurdon TimesWe have had few absentees this week, so hopefully the old bug is leaving us. Maybe next week will be even less. The spelling bee has been held and is completed. The winners were: fifth grade Kirby Sandidge, Tynesha Ivory and Brady Vandiver; sixth grade Shunta Bell, Sydney Jester and Colton McClure; seventh grade Tiffany Nolan, Carolanne Duke and Allison Anderson; and eighth grade Kolby Harper, Christian Dainels and Sydney Foshee. Our congratulations to each student who took part in the competition and a great big thank you to Mrs. Downey for taking time to work with those students. The school-wide spelling bee will be Feb. 21 at 8:30 a.m. for grades fourth through eighth. The Cabe Middle School Student Council is busy getting the yearbook ready for the publisher. Yearbooks are $18 and may be purchased by sending currency or check made payable to Cabe Middle School to Mrs. Clingan. The assembly Wednesday, Feb. 14, will be recognizing royalty at CMS. The candidates for queen and king are: fifth grade Tori Morehead and Beau McKenzie; sixth grade Hanna Prince and Daniel Francis; seventh grade Destiny Talley and Aaron Charles; and eighth grade Jordan Purifoy and Taylor Morehead. Students are anxious to know who will be crowned. The envelope, please. Gurdon was the host to the Junior Basketball District Tournament and so many nice things were heard about our school, campus and gym. It is such a great feeling of pride to have such facilities as we have. The eighth graders are required to read a book to make plans to give an oral presentation before their class and a written report for their English classes. Glad you are not able to hear all of the moaning. So many consider it "too hard" or "do you expect me to read that many pages?" Plenty of time has been given to them to read their books; several have finished their books already. We are busy, and are very fortunate to have your support as we continue to make those Classy Moments at CMS. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
