The concert will feature some of the area's best entertainers, singing country and western, pop and gospel as well tunes from the fabulous 50's.

Rudy Preston will start the revue with three tunes from the fabulous 50's. He will be followed by the Faith Singers with some gospel songs. Then Ron Wright and Rachel Inscore will be singing pop and country and western songs. Chad Cornelius will also be singing pop and country and western.

Others singing country and western will be Mistie Holley, Jordan Lacey, Stacy Hildebrand, Jennifer Hildebrand, Donna and Dalton Brewer, Rachel Dougan, Brandi Karlovek and eight-year-old Morgan Daniel.

Other gospel singers will be Bobby Loe and Michael Jimmerson, Margie Dixon Dansby and Nancy and Derek Burke.

The PHS Jazz Combo will play various selections.

Mark Keith of Hope will be playing the guitar and he will be the emcee for the evening, which is expected to last two and one-half to three hours.

Jerome Underwood of Hope will be in control of the sound system. He also takes care of the Hope Watermelon Festival sound system.

The performers, who have donated their time, will also be selling their CDs and cassette tapes in the lobby for those who are interested.

Many of these people perform regularly at festivals and at the Ashdown Jamboree, the Columbia County Hayride in Magnolia and at the Oaklawn Opry in Texarkana, as well as at other places across the state and out of state.

The Lions Club has arranged a lot of talent for this large revue. Most people will not see this many performers on the same stage on the same night any where else in this area.

Nearly thirty years ago a small group of local men saw the needs of a local blind man and formed Prescott Lions Club with the single purpose of assisting that one man. Over the years they did aid that man, but they have done so much more than that. The local club has contributed over $150,000 and provided invaluable services to the needy in this area.

In addition to aiding the blind and visually impaired in our area Prescott Lions Club provides $1,500 scholarships annually to local seniors, sponsors youth sports and academic teams, supports local and district scouting, aids in community improvement projects, assists disaster and catastrophic illness victims, assists local fire and rescue units, provides Christmas baskets to nursing home and Split Rail residents, sponsors handicapped youth camping, provides food baskets and Christmas gifts to needy families, sponsors educational field trips and provides other general assistance when requested.

Prescott Lions Club also supports Lions World Services for the Blind in Little Rock, Lions Mid-South Sight in Memphis, Arkansas Eye Bank and Laboratory, Leader Dogs for the Blind and Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF). After the devastating tornadoes that destroyed parts of Prescott and much of Arkadelphia, LCIF contributed a $20,000 grant to this district and since the recent ice storm LCIF has contributed another $10,000.

Recently, the Prescott Lions Club became aware that Arkansas has the fourth largest blind population in the nation. That translates to over 110,000 blind and visually impaired in the state and over 25,000 in District 7-L, which Prescott is a part.

Many are not aware of the services available to them, because of their disability and many are not able to enjoy outside entertainment. Therefore, Prescott Lions Club has arranged a sweetheart' of an evening for local blind and visually impaired that will feature a reception with speakers from venues as those listed above, Lions Eye Health Program, Radio Reading Services for the Blind, and others that assist the disabled.

If you or anyone you know is blind or visually impaired call Margaret Ivey at 887-5302 to make reservations to attend the reception.

The public is invited to attend as well. All proceeds will go to benefit the blind and visually impaired.
