HAZEL MEEKS
Published Wednesday, February 7, 2001 in the Nevada County Picayune

I wish I could find that ground hog, I'd chop his head off.

Tessa Webb spent Friday night with Caley Pennington.

Louie McKissack and Nina Brewer from Little Rock spent Saturday with Neil and me.

Margie Compton from Hot Springs visited her sister-in-law, Wilma Compton, on Thursday.

Our niece and her husband Donna and Werner Schmidt, from Longview, Texas, visited us on Sunday.

Gigi Golden from Hope had lunch with her father and Joy Cox on Saturday.

I really feel sorry for the parents, Agnes and Bobby Morrow, but on the other hand it's a real honor for them letting their son, Duston, entertain his friends on Saturday night. They had a camp-out and they rode four-wheelers. Those attending were Eli Ratcliff, Zack Martin, Aaron Tosch, Zack Richards, P.J. McKinnon and Elbert Palmer. Now here is the amazing part Momma fixed 40 pancakes, 24 hot dogs and about 50 drinks. By the way, Duston's dog, Powder, joined them. They all attended church at Shady Grove Sunday morning.

Phil Hocker from Texas spent Thursday night with his flying buddy, Roy Cagle, and his wife, Betty, and Nuggy.

Most of you remember Gary and Sharon Crane. We were glad to here they have bought a new home in Texarkana. Their son Shawn and his wife made them grandparents with two grandchildren.

Cherrie Wilson treated her grandmother, Mozelle, Gill by taking her shopping for necessities and eating out in Texarkana on Friday. The only thing I'm kinda confused it was Cherrie's birthday but she was supposed to be treating Granny.

Katy and Cherrie Wilson and Penny Loe enjoyed barbecue in Hope Saturday night.

Shady Grove members are working on compiling a history of the church that will include stories from members and former members. If you have something to share please send to Terri Vandiver, Rt. 2 Box 52, and it will be included in the book.

Linda and Allison Kisselburg honored, sister and aunt, Roxie Reel's daughter, Stephanie Johnson of Ft. Worth, Texas, and son-in-law, Mike, with a baby shower Saturday. There were approximately 40 people attending. Stephanie is expecting to have a baby boy, Trevor Michael, in April. The shower was big success with cake, punch and lots of food.
