Accusations About Club False

As a child growing up in the Bodcaw community I was always impressed with the concern and genuine desires of the local citizens to have a clean and pleasant community to raise their children in. These are noble and worthy efforts. If community leaders feel that a business or citizen is a detriment to the health of the area, they should gather information about a potential problem and confront that problem with a sense of trying to find an equitable solution. If, at this point, courtesy and communication have failed to solve the problem, then more drastic actions can be pursued.

The recent uproar over the application for a private club permit in the area of the Bodcaw community has turned into an all-out campaign of distortion or all out making up of the facts. Which I guess is understandable when you consider that no community leader or concerned citizen bothered visiting or even making a phone call to the business in question. Some of the things being said and written are not only factually wrong, but are personally hurtful of those of us involved. Our intentions have never been to do anything that would affect the community in a negative way.

Some of the things being said and written have included such remarks as: "opening up a bar," "honky tonk," "there are four churches within one mile of the lodge," "making alcohol available to our children," "promoting prostitution and the use of drugs," and many more things, some of which are totally slanderous. All of these statements are completely false yet they go on without any concern about the facts. These remarks coming from our friends and neighbors are very upsetting and disappointing, especially when most of it could have been avoided by simply speaking with myself or the owner and learning that we simply wanted the opportunity to serve a glass of wine with a nice dinner or an after dinner drink to our guests who might choose to do so. Our business is totally geared toward company or family groups that make reservations with our lodge to have a company meeting with dinner or a family wanting dinner and lodging.

I regret that the situation has gotten to this point. I truly feel it could have been avoided. I welcome anyone concerned to call me and discuss your concerns.
