BM, GW to Host Youth DayPublished Wednesday, May 5, 1999 in the Nevada County PicayuneThe city of Prescott and Nevada County will be hostesses for the Boys to Men and Girls to Women (BM-GW) Youth Day Tuesday, May 11. A proclamation will be issued by Mayor Howard Taylor and County Judge Roy Brown at 8 a.m. at the Nevada County Courthouse steps. A selected number of mentees from the BM-GW will serve as 'proxy' officials at all major city and county government offices. They will shadow the officials currently in office. These young people will assist in the daily operations of the office assigned. The goal is to help them to understand and appreciate how county and city governments are established and operate. This experience will help build character and responsibility in their own lives and a greater appreciation for city and county government. If you happen to see these people acting in their proxy position, give them a nod or pat on the back. The BM-GW Coalition is a non-profit organization, established to help at risk young men and women avoid the use of drugs, alcohol tobacco and gang violence; and to assist them in becoming productive citizens in our society.
