The Beirne Rural Fire Department will be holding a chili supper at the fire department on Saturday, Feb. 3, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Dinner plates will cost $4.50 per plate.

The city of Gurdon is seeking volunteers to assist people in debris removal from their property. Any persons seeking assistance or interested in volunteering should call 353-2514.

Eastern Star Baptist Church will hold its sixth annual Valentine's program Sunday, Feb. 11, at 2:30 p.m. Guest churches include Gennerset Baptist Church of Arkadelphia and Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Gurdon. The theme is Bring a Sweetheart to Church.'

The eighth annual Sawmill Days Festival will take place Saturday, April 14, in downtown Sparkman. Crafters, vendors and entertainers are needed to make this year's event a success.

The Sparkman Little League sponsors the event annually.

The 8th Annual Miss Sawmill Days Pageant will be Saturday, March 24. The pageant will take place in the Sparkman School cafeteria beginning at 6 p.m.

There will be age divisions beginning with 0-24 months and the last ending at 18 years of age.

The Red Springs Extension Homemakers Club meets every second Thursday of each month at the Gurdon Municipal building beginning at 10:00 a.m. Any interested person is welcome to attend.

The city of Gurdon reminds residents the storm sirens are tested every Wednesday at 12:00 noon. Sirens are not tested during inclement weather.

Gurdon Masonic Lodge 187 meets the first and third Tuesday of each month. All members are urged to attend.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets on Wednesdays and Sundays at 8:00 p.m. at the American Legion building, Highway 67 North, one mile out of Gurdon.
