Golden OldiesDORIS VANCEPublished Wednesday, January 31, 2001 in the Gurdon Times Our Valentine contestants are working hard to win. The couple who raises the most money will be our King and Queen. Coke, stuffed animals, quilt tops, candy dishes, and lots more have been donated to the center. The items donated by the contestants have been auctioned and the money goes to them. The birthday cake for January birthdays was enjoyed by the following: Nell Gober, George Peeples, Lottie Rogers, Ann Boyce, Mary Horton, Roy Easley and Betty Torgenson. Our home-bound birthdays are: Elma Laud, Grady Kimbrell and Ida Gills. Ellis and Beatrice Stafford visited the Texarkana Senior Adult Center last week and Beatrice played the piano for group singing. The center worked hard to reassess members for 2001. We have been enjoying delicious meals. It will soon be February. The first month has flown by. Eulah Wilson has been transferred to Twin Rivers Health and Rehab. She broke her ankle, so she won't be able to come back to the center for a while. Her room number is 403.
