Willisville NewsGERTRUDE HENRYPublished Wednesday, January 24, 2001 in the Nevada County Picayune I have been writing this column for eight weeks. I would like to introduce myself to those of you who may not know me. I am Gertrude Henry, the wife of Pearl (Sonny) Henry. We were blessed to retire and move from Michigan to his hometown of Willisville. We have been here for six years enjoying and trying to make the best of our retirement years together with the help of God. I haven't met any strangers; I love people. I am a firm believer in treating people the way I want to be treated. God is a good God; He has blessed me with a wonderful adopted family, Mother Ruth Paden Ingram and family. They have been so wonderful to me. If it had not been for Mother Ruth I would not have been writing the news for the paper. Chester Paden and friend from Dallas, Texas, was in Rosston last week. They came home to coon hunt. Due to the weather they were unsuccessful. Chester is employed at Lincoln Funeral Home and Memorial Parks in Dallas. His hobby is hunting. His son, Roger Paden, is a licensed electrician and carpet layer in Rosston. He has been helpful the Rosston and Willisville communities. He is a very busy man. He is employed at Potlatch in Prescott. Let us not forget the musical benefit program for Velma Pearson and family on Saturday, January 27, at 7 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. We are continuing to pray for our sick and shut-in. Elder Fort is in the hospital in Little Rock. Gurthie L. Ingram is in Medical Park Hospital in Hope. Fred Madison and Essie Page is in the Hope Nursing Home. Sarah Johnson, Leonard Black and Allen Elliott are home. We don't know all the sick, but God knows them all. Thought for the week: Jesus may come anytime, so we must be ready all the time. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
