It was a rough night for Gurdon as the Devils traveled to Lewisville, returning home with a 70-44 loss to the Red Devils.

Lewisville got Gurdon down early, and wouldn't let the Devils get in the game. Gurdon was never able to find a solid rhythm during the contest.

The Red Devils opened with a 13-5 lead at the end of one, though the pace was solid. Neither team shot well from the floor.

Lewisville pressed Gurdon all night, dropping in to a 2-3 zone for its half-court defense. The Devils varied between a 1-3-1 and 2-3 zone.

Lewisville's offense heated up somewhat in the second, as the host team extended its lead to 19 at 33-14 by halftime.

Both teams put the ball up, but neither showed any consistency in scoring in the first half.

The situation didn't improve in the second half either, as Gurdon remained cold from the field, while Lewisville did just enough to keep its lead.

The third ended with the Red Devils leading 47-25.

Gurdon scored the first four points of the third, only to see Lewisville go on a run, pushing its lead to 42-22 at the 3:49 mark.

Much of the quarter was spent on Lewisville's half of the court.

The final eight minutes looked much like the third quarter, as Gurdon fought to cut the lead, only to have Lewisville respond and keep the Devils from getting in the game.

Gurdon hit seven of 18 free throws, while Lewisville netted 11 of 22.

Norris Glenn led the way for Gurdon with 14, while Dorsey Kelly scored 12.

Glenn led Gurdon with 19 on the night.

The second half was all Gurdon as the Devils were up 72-25 by the end of the third.

Genoa took an early lead, 24-4, over Gurdon in the first period, and were up 40-21 when halftime rolled round.

The hole Gurdon was in proved to be more than the Devils could climb out of, as Genoa led 55-39 at the end of three and held on for the win.

Hatley paced Gurdon with 20.

B. Mason led Genoa with 18, while D. McMurray and J. Glover scored 15 each.

NORPHLET 20

Norphlet didn't last long in the Camden Tournament, as the Devils burned the Leopards 68-20.

The only question to be answered, after Gurdon jumped out to a 35-2 first quarter lead, was what the final score would be.

Halftime arrived with the Devils leading comfortably 51-13. Gurdon slowed its assault in the third quarter, but still led 57-13.

Hatley was unstoppable as he scored a season-high 35. Chris Thompson followed with 16, while Kentrell House netted 11.

Lucas led the Leopards with 11.

PRESCOTT 76

The Devils got revenge over Prescott for an earlier season loss in Prescott, as they won 81-76 at home.

The two teams played evenly in the first, with Gurdon leading 17-14 at the end. Prescott rallied in the second to lead 42-39 at the half.

However, this served to inspire the Devils as they took a 58-57 lead at the end of three.

Glenn was hot as he scored 28 on the night. Kelly tossed in 16 himself.

Jason Tidwell led Prescott with 22, while Brandon Young and Kevin Fulks scored 14 each.
