RedlandHazel MeeksPublished Wednesday, May 5, 1999 in the Nevada County Picayune Last week's news: I have no comment on this unusual weather. I'm so sorry I have just found out Shirley Loe is in the Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock critically ill. Shirley, our thoughts and prayers are with you. Hopefully, she is now on the road to recovery. John Phillips and children from McCaskill visited his mother, Bettie, and Eddie Hillery on Sunday. Lou Ella Cobb from Hope visited Neil and me and her brother George Taylor on Saturday. Charity and Caleb Lowdermilk visited her mother, Betty, and Tim Wilson in Texarkana on Saturday. Tim is not showing much improvement. Neil and I spent Wednesday in Texarkana, what else but seeing doctors. Julene and Willie Hulan and Sandy Loe attended the funeral for Judy Varnell at Roler Drummand in Little Rock on Thursday. Judy was their daughter-in-law and sister-in-law Linda's mother. We in the Redland community were made sad to say goodbye to Shane and Amanda Meador. Because of their jobs they are moving to Glenwood. Good luck. Today's medicines are so expensive, the doctor's prescription should read, "Take one pill as often as you can afford it." This week's news: I'm sorry, but for some reason my news was not printed last week. Since my news last week we're glad to report Shirley Loe as been able to return home. Our grandson, Chris, from Dallas, Texas, visited his sister, Charity, and Randy and Caleb Lowdermilk and Neil and me on Sunday. Harvey and Ruth Barham from Dallas spent several days at their home here. Our next door neighbors, Darren, Kristi and Emilee Neal, honored her father, Jerry, with a birthday dinner on Sunday. those attending were Jerry, Rhonda, Justin, and Cole Hillery, Billie Ridling, Chanda and Lane Martin, Bettie and Eddie Hillery and Neil and me. On Thursday our nephew and his wife, Gary and Alice Meeks, from North Little Rock visited Neil and me. Jo Nell Jones and Georgia Pocian from Cartersville, Ga., and Kay Obler from California visited Neil and me on Sunday. Jo Nell and Georgia's mother, the late Josie McDonald, and my daddy, Jessie Griffin, were brother and sister. Ronnie Vandiver and Sam Dickinson have returned from a sight seeing trip to Mexico City. Friends of Mack Andrews will be sorry to know he is in a Hot Springs hospital. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
