Blevins Lady Hornets Defeat Lewisville

Blevins's Lady Hornets have been on a tear since returning to the basketball court.

The Lady Hornets demolished Waldo 77-41 on Jan. 5, and followed this by a 91-15 thrashing of Stamps on Jan. 11.

Blevins jumped on Stamps's Lady Yellow Jackets early in the first quarter and didn't let up for the remainder of the contest.

The Lady Hornets took a 17-6 lead at the end of one, built this to a 45-12 halftime advantage and continued the onslaught by outscoring Stamps 25-3 in the third.

Heading into the final eight minutes, Blevins led 70-15, and held Stamps scoreless in the fourth quarter.

The one down side for Blevins was at the line, where the Lady Hornets hit only three of 13 attempts. Stamps was six of 10.

Wyrick led Stamps with 10.

Allison Jordan paced Blevins with 19, while Keta Rodgers followed with 18. The tandem of Kayla Jordan and Keshia Gilliam scored 16 each.

The Christmas layoff slowed the Lady Hornets down, but not much as the tamed the Lady Bulldogs 77-41.

Blevins posted an 18-4 first quarter lead, and was up 38-16 at the half. By the end of three, the Lady Hornets were in control 58-26.

The Lady Hornets shot relatively well from the stripe, connecting on 12 of 23 free throws.

Waldo hit seven of 12 from the line.

Weaver led the Lady Dogs with 13 points.

Kayla Jordan was the game's leading scorer with 38 on the night. Allison Jordan followed with 18, while Rogers contributed 11.

The Lady Hornets now have a 22-2 overall record, and are 6-1 in league play. They are also ranked eighth in Class AA in the state.
