Ted and Amy Masey are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Amanda Brooke Masey. Brooke was born Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, at Saline Memorial Hospital in Benton. Weighing 7 pounds and 7.75 ounces, Brooke was welcome home by her brother Taylor.

Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Don Smithpeters of Gurdon, Mr. and Mrs. Randy Stephen of Little Rock and the late Tommy Masey of Gurdon.

The Lord Gives, a non-profit group, is accepting donations and volunteers to aid people in need. If you have a need, items to donate or services to offer contact Doreen Hubbard at 353-4778.

Curtis Assembly of God Church, Central Road, will be holding a revival beginning Sunday, Jan. 21, with morning services at 10:00 a.m. and evening services at 6:00 p.m. During the week services will be held at 7:00 each night through January 26. Evangelists are Rev. and Mrs. Jerry Wilkerson of Alma. Call Don Youker at 246-5409 for more information.

Arkie Stars Square Dance Club started a new class Tuesday, Jan. 16, at 7:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church at Ninth and Pine Streets in Arkadelphia. No prior dancing experience needed. The board of directors of Southwest Central Regional Solid Waste Management District will meet at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, at the offices of West Central Arkansas Planning and Development District in Hot Springs. For information call 501-525-7577.

The Gurdon Baseball Boosters Club meeting will be held Jan. 18 at 7:00 p.m. at Gurdon City Hall to elect officers and discuss the oncoming baseball season. For more information call Janet Purifoy at First State Bank during regular business hours.

The Red Springs Extension Homemakers Club meets every second Thursday of each month at the Gurdon Municipal building beginning at 10:00 a.m. Any interested person is welcome to attend.

The city of Gurdon reminds residents the storm sirens are tested every Wednesday at 12:00 noon. Sirens are not tested during inclement weather.

Gurdon Masonic Lodge 187 meets the first and third Tuesday of each month. All members are urged to attend.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets on Wednesdays and Sundays at 8:00 p.m. at the American Legion building, Highway 67 North, one mile out of Gurdon.
